Pre-Planning
At Burnside Funeral Home, we strongly support
the option of planning for one's final wishes in advance.
Hundreds of thousands of people annually realize the need to begin
to put their affairs in order before the inevitable occurs. By
pre-planning for your funeral, several goals are reached:
-
You will have made your wishes known without
dispute
-
You will have eased a sometimes unbearable burden from your
surviving family
-
You will have selected a service that was truly reflective of
your life
-
Personal information about yourself will have been placed on
file to better help your surviving family with your personal affairs
and
-
You will have alleviated a financial burden from your loved
ones by pre-funding your funeral.
There is a difference in pre-planning and pre-funding
a funeral:
A simple pre-planned funeral is when someone
comes to our funeral home and makes their wishes known about the
type of service they desire and provides background information on
themselves without actually paying for those services in advance.
A pre-funded funeral arrangement is when a person pays for their
services by cash or check either with a single payment or by a
payment schedule.
The major difference between the two options
is that by pre-funding your funeral arrangements, you will have
guaranteed the cost of your services and merchandise selected, such
as the professional tasks of the funeral home and staff, your
casket, cremation urn and outer burial container. Your funds
are invested so that any earnings from those funds are put toward
future rise in costs.
Many families already have insurance policies
that have been designated for their funeral expenses. The
proceeds from these policies may be assigned to the funeral home as
part of estate planning. However, the price guarantees that
are available with pre-funded funerals are not available with
insurance assignments. Our staff will gladly explain your
options in greater detail.
Also, Burnside Funeral Home gladly accepts
transfers of existing pre-arranged funerals from other funeral
homes. This is a simple procedure, and in many cases, may be more
beneficial in cost to the family.
If you
would like to receive more information on your pre-planning options
with absolutely no obligation, you may contact the funeral

will be strictly confidential and will not be shared with
anyone.
