E. Dale Prunty, 70, of Shinnston passed away on Friday February 10, 2012 in Evanston, Il.  He was born September 9, 1941 in Morgantown a son of the late Jennings Bryan Prunty and Geraldine Keener Prunty Cochran. 

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Darlene Hebb Prunty, whom he married on June 11, 1983. 

He is also survived by his children, Debbie Valdez and her husband Dave; their children Brittany and Alyssa all of Shinnston, Diane “Sam” Whiteman and her husband Dan and their children Tyler and Shelby of Bridgeport, E. Daryl Prunty and his son Colton Prunty of Shinnston,  Gary Knotts and his wife Cindy D. and their children Dustin and McKenna all of Bridgeport, Chris Knotts and his wife Cindy L. and their son Cole of Bridgeport; one step-sister Beulah Sayers of Bridgeport; and Donald Keener of Lafayette, Indiana with whom he was raised as a brother; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his brother Harold Prunty and a step-brother Millard (Mick) Cochran. 

Mr. Prunty served proudly in the Army National Guard. Following his service he was a member of Carpenter’s Local 476 of Clarksburg for over 45 years. He served as a Business Agent from 1976-1985, where he was instrumental in founding the North Central West Virginia Carpenter’s District Council. 

He was an avid outdoorsman, especially with the United Kennel Club Coonhounds and United Kennel Club Beagles.  He competed in UKC events since 1962.  He was the first person ever inducted into the National Hunting Beagle Association Hall of Fame and has won world, national and state titles and championships.  He holds more UKC licenses than any other official.  He also served as a UKC Field Representative for the UKC Beagle Program and has judged many major UKC shows for coonhounds and beagles including The UKC World Show, Autumn Oaks, The UKC Premier, Top Ten Finals at Premier, UKC Beagle Nations, The Beagle World Show and many more.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday from 2 – 8 p.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012, with Pastor Robert Perine presiding.  Entombment will be in Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, Shinnston.
