Back Send condolences to the Criss Family
Susan Ann Lada Criss, 79, of Bridgeport passed away on Monday, January 30, 2012, in the United Hospital Center. She was born in Clarksburg on February 19, 1932, a daughter of the late Matthew David and Mary Chuhran Lada.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Roy E. Criss, on October 30, 2011.
She is survived by her son, Steven D. Showers of Mount Clare; her step-daughter, Carol Criss Annie of S. Charleston; three grandchildren, Stefanie Dawn Showers Johnson Dowdel of Lakewood, Colorado; Denise Caggiano and her husband Nick of KY; Lisa M. Annie of S. Charleston; five great-grandchildren, Blake Taylor-Johnson, Riley Dowdel; Dominic, Anthony and Isabella Caggiano; a sister, Helen Lada Cheuvront; nieces and nephews, Bob Lada and his wife Denise; Cindy Lada; Tom Cheuvront; Elaine Shockey; Karen Louk and her husband Vernon; Nancy Guzzi and her husband Larry; Janet Powell and her husband Scott; and Marla Lada.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Lada and Mike Lada; a sister, Mary Lada Vallelonga; and a nephew, Michael Lada.
Susan served as the Coordinator of Records for the Harrison County Board of Education, retiring in 1992 after 23 years of service. She had attended WV Wesleyan College, where she was a cheerleader. She was an avid sports fan and she enjoyed following WVU athletics, often traveling to away games with her husband and family. She also enjoyed baking and cooking.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012, with Pastor Alan Granofsky presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
