Back Send condolences to the Martin Family


Sgt. David Allen Martin, 24, of North Pole, Alaska, formerly of Clarksburg, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010, in Seattle, Washington, following injuries sustained in an accident in Alaska while proudly serving in the United States Army. He was born in Clarksburg on October 27, 1986, a son of Allen “AD” Martin and his wife Anita Valdez of Nutter Fort and Kimberly Reed of Clarksburg.
In addition to his parents he is also survived by his fiancée Megan Williams of Alaska; his maternal grandparents, Lester L. “Dink” and Shirley L. Reed of Clarksburg and his paternal grandparents, Chester and Ann Martin of Wilsonburg; a half-sister Kristina Perrine of Clarksburg and Emily Valdez of Nutter Fort; three uncles, Jerry Reed, Clarksburg; Dick Martin, Lumberport; and Chester “Butch” Martin, FL; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his uncle Danny Martin and his great-grandmother Martha Jean Gillespie.
David was a graduate of the Mountaineer Challenge Academy and was serving in the United States Army where he was stationed in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. He was a Fire Support Specialist and he had served two tours in the Iraq War. He was recently promoted to Sergeant.
He was also an in-line speed skater who raced with the Rollin Rednex, and was a motorcycle enthusiast. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, with Reverend O. D. Harman presiding. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens with Military Funeral Honors being accorded by the WV National Guard Honor Guard.
