Back Send condolences to the Anderson Family
James V. Anderson, 92, of
Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 11, 2010, at his
residence following an extended illness. He was born May 8, 1918, in Reader, a
son of the late Morton and Pauline Kocher Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Ora G. Anderson, on January 3, 2010.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Shutran and her husband Tim of Myrtle Beach, SC; two grandsons, Shawn Knapp and his wife Mary of Bridgeport and Jayme Knapp and his wife Cindy of Lake Wylie, SC; four great-grandchildren, Tristan and Ryan Knapp of Bridgeport and Taylor and Logan Knapp of Lake Wylie, SC.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Anderson; two brothers, George and Jesse; and a sister, Bernice Hawkins.
Jim served in the US Army during World War II. He was a retired coal miner having worked for King Knob Coal and Grafton Coal, and Alfred Coal companies. He was a family man who enjoyed being with his family, and he also enjoyed gardening, hunting, Sunday drives and attending family reunions.

Family and friends may be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Perry Henegar presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
