Billy G. Stoneking, age 83, of Stout St. Bridgeport, passed away Saturday morning July 10, 2010. He was born June 27, 1927, in Gilmer County, a son of the late Frank Stoneking and Opal Alice Clousser Stoneking. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Olga Melzina Lewis Stoneking. 

Billy is survived by two sons, William L. Stoneking and his wife Verlene of Bridgeport and Robert F. Stoneking and his wife Johanna of Colonial Heights, VA; five grandchildren, Chad William Stoneking and his wife Jelana of Greensburg, PA, Eric Michael Stoneking and his wife Mandy of Bridgeport, and SSG Christopher Gibat of Morgantown, Brendan Gibat of Colonial Heights and Sean Gibat of Morgantown; and three great-granddaughters, Alexandria, Brie Elle and Amelia Stoneking. 

Billy served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He graduated from Glenville State College and earned his Master's Degree from Salem College. He was well known for teaching and coaching at several local schools for 38 years. He retired in 1989 as a math teacher and coach at Bridgeport High School. 

His hobbies included fishing, hunting and raising beagles.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 4 to 8 pm Sunday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010, with Rev. Dr. C. Michael Hopkins presiding. Interment will follow at Bridgeport Cemetery.
