Back Send condolences to the Davis Family
Mary Margaret Davis, 97, formerly of Rt. 3, Clarksburg, Erie Community, passed away Friday morning, July 9, 2010, in the Clarksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 30, 1912, in Monongalia County, a daughter of the late Richard and Hattie Smith Hayhurst.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Ervin Barker in 1963, and Ira Russell Davis in 1969.
She is survived by a son, Lawrence Barker and his wife Dorothy, Trenton, NJ; four daughters, Dorothy Bowling, Yardville, NJ; Barbara Ferguson, Wrightstown, NJ; Nancy Wagner and her husband John, Idaho; and Mary Frances Elder and her husband Donald, Clarksburg; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son Robert Warren Barker; one daughter, Patricia Pease; two grandsons, Michael Bowling and Steven Young; one granddaughter, Linda Lugo; one great-grandson, Cody Lawrence Barker; a brother, Harley Hayhurst, and a sister Elsie Hashman.
Mary provided house cleaning services in the area, and enjoyed quilting and playing the accordion. She was a member of the Harrison County Senior Citizens and enjoyed doing crafts and having dinner there. She was a member of Stealey Assembly of God, where she sang in the choir, and a member of the Women’s Missionaries at the church.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Monday evening from 6 – 8 pm. Mary will lie in state from 10 – 11 am on Tuesday, July13, 2010, at Stealey Assembly of God, 100 Nicholas Street, Clarksburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mark Greaver presiding. Interment will follow in Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
