Back Send condolences to the Pritchard Family

John David Pritchard, known to his family and friends as “Dave,” 81, of Bridgeport, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2010, in Clarksburg. He was born in Bridgeport on April 23, 1929, a son of the late Richard Wesley and Ione Jane Butler Pritchard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Bonnie Jean Altman Pritchard.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two sons, John Wesley Pritchard and his wife Barbara of Raleigh, NC; and Alan Bruce Pritchard and his wife Betty of Fairmont; one daughter, Ella Jeanne Pritchard Curry of Alexandria, VA; one granddaughter, Casey Louise Pritchard of Raleigh, NC; one brother Richard W. Pritchard of Lugoff, SC; two sisters, Anne Morgan of Warren, OH; and Mary Clotts of Columbus, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Jane Pritchard Clower.
Dave was a graduate of Bridgeport High School Class of 1947 and also attended Salem College for one year. He was a self-employed painting contractor serving Harrison and other surrounding counties from 1952-2005, when he retired. Dave was also an active member of the Simpson Creek Baptist Church in Bridgeport for 60 years, serving in many capacities including as a deacon, usher, on the property committee, building committee and a Sunday school treasurer. He also bowled in the church league for SCBC for many years. As a young man he was a volunteer at the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department and belonged to the Lions Club.
Memorial contributions in Dave’s memory may be made to the Simpson Creek Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 231 W. Philadelphia Avenue, Bridgeport, WV 26330
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday. Mr. Pritchard will lie in state at Simpson Creek Baptist Church, 231 W. Philadelphia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 10 -11 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. with Dr. C. Michael Hopkins presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
