Back Send condolences to the Dodd Family
Stephen Severn Dodd, 57, of Bridgeport passed away on Saturday June 26, 2010 in Clarksburg. He was born November 11, 1952 in Clarksburg, a son of Gene A. Dodd of Bridgeport and the late Phyllis Wallingford Dodd.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Heide Breinlinger Dodd.
In addition to his father and wife he is also survived by three daughters, Stephanie Jay Dalton and her husband Andrew of Morgantown, Lucy Brice Dodd and Madelin Grae Dodd, both of Bridgeport; one son Timothy Stephen Dodd of Atlanta, GA; one step daughter, Caitlin Fehrs of Bridgeport; four grandchildren, Hunter Bowen, Taylor, Gabriel and Avery Dalton; two brothers, Gene Taylor Dodd and Gary William Dodd and his wife Amy, all of Bridgeport; one sister, Janice Lynn Shultz and her husband Gary of Bridgeport; a great aunt Beulah Leichter who is 100 years old of Clarksburg; six nephews and one niece.
Stephen was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and also attended Fairmont State University. Stephen and Gene T. Dodd started Dodd General Contractors Corporation in 1978 which is an asphalt and excavating Company. Steve specialized in excavating and fine grading. The company also built an asphalt plant in St. Mary’s, WV on the Ohio River in 1999. They then sold it to Shally and Sands in 2004. That Company is still in operation in North Central West Virginia specializing in paving State Roads and city streets and new bridges. He was also a lifelong member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church. He was active in Boy Scouts having attained a Star Scout status. He was also a camp counselor. In addition he also sponsored children from other Countries.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Tuesday June 29, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 12:00 noon at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport with Reverend Steven E. Dorsey presiding.
