Mae McEldowney, 80, of Rt. 4, Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday morning, June 16, 2010.  She was born in Monaca, PA, on August 17, 1929, a daughter of the late John William and Sarah Madeline Meredith Wigal. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Dorsey B. McEldowney, whom she married on July 7, 1948. 

Also surviving are her daughter, Barbara Cureton, Nutter Fort; two sons, Harry McEldowney and his fiancée Deborah Moore, Bridgeport; and Lynn McEldowney, Nutter Fort; five grandchildren, Shelly Bunnell and her husband Darren, Clarksburg; Stacy Puckett and her husband Ron, Jackson, GA; Sonya Wilmoth, Denver, NC; Shane McEldowney and his companion Jessica Medina, Bridgeport; and Clay McEldowney and his wife Cathy, Bridgeport; and 10 great-grandchildren.  Two brothers, David Wigal and his wife Lorann, Pico Rivera, CA; and Cline Mitchell, Beaver, PA; a sister, Florence Dean and her husband Carl, Darlington, PA; and several nieces and nephews complete her family. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, William Cureton; a grandson, Alex Heath McEldowney; grandson-in-law, James Tennant; and a brother, John Wigal. 

Mae was an active member of the Middleville Baptist Church.  She had previously worked at Bon Ton and Stone & Thomas.   She received the Silver Award as a former 4-H Leader and was also a den scout mother.  She liked to cook, sew and quilt. 

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2010, with Reverend Paul Boyles presiding.  Interment will follow in Middleville Baptist Church Cemetery.
