Edward Lynch, 88, of Bridgeport went home to be with the Lord on Friday June 11,
2010 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. He was born September 2, 1922
in Coldwater, WV a son of the late Virgil Sheridan Lynch and Rosa Leah Nicholson
Lynch.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dondena Inghram.
Uncle Teddy as he was affectionately known is survived by his nieces and nephews, Geraldine Kniceley, Betty Jo Ann Bentley, Carol McKinney, James B. Jones, Jr., Georgia Swiger, Elsie Cox and Daniel Altman; and several great nieces and nephews as well as several great great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife he was also preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Geraldine Louchery, Ernestine Jones, Raymond Lynch and Virgie Lynch Altman.
Mr. Lynch retired from the United States Army serving proudly during WWII where he landed at Normandy, also served during the Korean War. Following his retirement from the Army he then worked for the Department of the Navy in Washington DC where he retired once again. After his retirement he came back home to WV and worked at Helmick’s Market and also became a member of the Bridgeport Baptist Church and became a born again Christian.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bridgeport Baptist Church in memory of Terence.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, WV on Monday June 14, 2010 from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon, where funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon with Reverend George Bramble presiding. Interment will be in WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown with full military honors being accorded.
