Back Send condolences to the Dent Family
Marjorie Dent, 90, of Maplewood Drive Bridgeport passed away on Wednesday June 9, 2010 at United Hospital Center. She was born September 30, 1919 in Adrian, WV a daughter of the late John Heaston Riffle and Anna Blanche Landis Riffle.
She was preceded in death by her husband Reverend Robert Lee Dent.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Lou Nutter and her husband Donald of Johnstown, and Joanne Marie Cork and her husband Everett of Salem; one son, Robert Marshall Dent and his wife Lois of Spencer; nine grandchildren, Tammy S. Light and her husband Jack of Kingwood, Jeffrey Nutter and his wife Kris of Columbus, WV, Kimberly D. Mahdavi and her husband Tony of Mt. Clare, David Eugene Cork and his wife Pamela of Hendersonville, TN, Juanita Mae Rebrook and her husband Kevin of Sequim, WA, Patricia Lynn Heater and her husband Phil of Salem, Timothy Lee Cork and his wife Tracey of Salem, Daniel Marshall Dent and his wife Christy of Knoxvile, TN, and Della Nicole Dent of Lithia, FL; seventeen great grandchildren, Whitney Cork, Nicholas Cork both of Hendersonville, TN, Jeremy Heater, Andrea Heater, Brian Heater, Josiah Cork, Ashton Cork and Christian Cork, all of Salem, Ashley Griffin and her husband Chad of Morgantown, Justin Hayes and his wife Alana of Clarksburg, Kelly S. Nutter of Columbus, OH, Christophe O. Mahdavi of Morgantown, Jordan A. Mahdavi of Mount Clare and Anthony Mahdavi also of Mount Clare, Andrew Dent, James Dent and Levi Dent all of Knoxville, TN.
In addition to her parents and her husband she was also preceded in death by one sister, June L. Linger; and four brothers, John, Jay, Jesse and Jack Riffle.
Mrs. Dent attended schools at Mount Clare and Lost Creek and Cuyahoga Falls, OH and then enrolled at Alderson – Broaddus College. She received her nursing degree from Salem College when she was 50 years old. She was a retired Registered Nurse. In previous years, while being a minister’s wife, Marjorie worked in the various churches in the WV Baptist Association.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue Bridgeport, WV on Friday June 11, 2010 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am with Reverend Don Flanigan presiding. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lost Creek United Methodist Church Food Pantry, Rt. 2 Box 219, Lost Creek, WV 26385, in her honor.
