Back Send condolences to the Cunningham Family
James Layman “Jimmy” Cunningham, beloved son and brother went home to be with the Lord April 11, 2010. He was born September 14, 1944 in Cairo, WV a son of Rosetta Cunningham Helmick, Clarksburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Cunningham in May of 2005.
He is survived by one son, James L. Cunningham, Jr. of Fountain, CO. He is also survived by two sisters, Patty Butcher and her husband Tom of Good Hope, Sue Sprouse and her husband Archie of Jarvisville; one brother Jerry Helmick and his wife Patsy of Clarksburg; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and his special dog and companion, Scooter
Jimmy served with the USMC in the 1960’s. He also worked and repaired golf carts at his residence. He loved to shoot guns and in his day was an avid hunter. He is well known for his marksmanship in all areas, winning many trophies over the years. He loved to get together with his friends and play music. He had many friends in Wilsonburg and surrounding areas, Ray Betts, Archie Wiseman and Jim Bunch to name a few. Special thanks go to his nephews, Archie Sprouse and Bobby Russell and friend Otto Cabrerra for looking in on him and helping him.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Friday April 16, 2010 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday at 12:00 noon with Reverend Jim Bunch presiding. Interment will be at a later time and date to be determined by the family.
