Back Send condolences to the Stuart Family
Ruby Jeraldine Stuart, 94, of Jane Lew, passed away on Monday March 22, 2010 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home following a lingering illness. She was born on April 29, 1915 in Lewis County, the daughter of the late Minter and Clintie Hoye Bennett Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Lance Hawkins and Kenneth W. Stuart.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Woofter and her husband Bill of Bridgeport; a granddaughter, Terri L. Palmer of Daytona Beach, FL; five great-grandchildren, Melissa Palmer of Clarksburg; Brandon Palmer of Florence, KY; Christopher Palmer of Lake Butler, FL; Channing Palmer and Brooks Palmer of Daytona Beach, FL; one great-great grandson and one great-great granddaughter. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Grace Smith of Weston and Virginia “Skip” Smith of Jane Lew; and one brother-in-law Elbert Perkey of Mansfield, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of the Smith family. She was preceded in death by her brothers, David Smith, Edward Smith, Tracey Smith, Frank Smith, Glenn Smith and Bradley Smith; and her sisters, Mintie Pertz, Hazel Smith, Merle Miller and Bonnie Lee Perkey.
She enjoyed working on the family farm and embroidery and she had previously worked at Harvey Industries.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Tuesday from 6-8 pm, where services will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the Snyder Cemetery at Churchville, WV
