Harold “Bud” Calfee, 75, of
Bridgeport, passed away Sunday evening, March 14, 2010, in the Heritage Nursing
Home. He was born on November 28, 1934 in Bridgeport, a son of the late Forest
Calfee and Ruby Bice Calfee Scranage.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Harris Calfee, whom he married December 21, 1964.
Also surviving are his daughter, Bryn Tomaro and her husband Carmen; and a granddaughter, Ryan Tomaro, all of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Martha Nuzum and Barbara Mayo, both of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Cody.
Bud was a graduate of Grafton High School where he was a member of the 1952 State High School Football Championship Team. He retired from the Harrison County Board of Education after 27 years of service as a plumber, and at the same time he worked for 15 years as a Bridgeport Police Officer and for 15 years as a Big Game Guide in Buffalo, Wyoming.
He was a former Fire Chief and Past President of the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department, and he loved to ride horses and hunt.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Wednesday from 1 – 8 pm, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2010 with Reverend Thomas P. Horne presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
