Back Send condolences to the Jones Family
Shirley R. Jones, 72, of Clarksburg, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at United Hospital Center. She was born May 22, 1937 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Raymond and Flora Heater Woofter.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years Donald L. Jones whom she married in 1958.
In addition to her husband she is also survived by two sisters, Estella Grose of Connelsville, PA, Margaret Kennedy of Tucson, AZ and one brother James Woofter of Banning, CA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Ellis, Betty Albright, Jo Ann Louzy and Wanda Brown; one brother Glen Woofter.
Shirley was a graduate of Washington Irving High School and was Methodist. She took great joy in keeping her house and she liked to work crossword puzzles and also liked to play bingo. Most of all she enjoyed taking car rides with her husband, Don.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Sunday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm., where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2010, with Reverend George V. Bramble presiding. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.

To the family, Our heartfelt condolences to all of you. Shirley was my cousin and I remember our childhood when we came to Clarksburg to visit Grandma and Grandpa Heater and we always visited Aunt Flora and Uncle Raymond. I haven't seen Shirley for many years but remember her as a very sweet girl. I know my sister Jennifer would also send her wishes but she is in the hospital and has been very ill since the day before Christmas. We will think of you on Monday and pray for all.
