Mrs. Elizabeth H. Hess, 90
years of age, of Bridgeport, died on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the United
Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
She was born September 30, 1919, a daughter of the late John H. and Elizabeth Lintz Glenn. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald M. Hess on January 14, 1974.
Mrs. Hess is survived by one daughter, Shirley Prince and her husband Ronnie of Bridgeport; one son, Charles Hess and his wife Gina of Brunswick, GA. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Christine Prince Pittman and her husband Aaron of Harrisville; Deborah Prince DeCarlo and her husband Frank of Pittsburgh, PA; Robin Prince Brown and her husband Don of Buckhannon; Charles Kevin Hess and his wife Katherine of Bridgeport; Michael Robinson and his wife Amber of Brunswick, GA; and Marian Hess of Brunswick, GA; 7 great-grandchildren, Leslie, Elizabeth and Rachael Sheets of Buckhannon; Katherine, Antonio and Dominic DeCarlo of Pittsburgh, PA and Charles Evan Hess of Bridgeport; and one great-great-grandchild, Landon Price of Buckhannon. She is also survived by two sisters, Freda Hughes and Beverly Miller, both of Fairmont; and one brother, John H. Glenn of Tampa, FL.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hess was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marian; and three sisters, Evelyn Blake, Norma Lowe, and Helen Leon.
She was a member of the Johnson Avenue United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s Society.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, on Thursday from 2 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 am on Friday, January 22, 2010, with Reverend Ron Brown presiding. Interment will follow at Bridgeport Cemetery.
