Richard Lee Trickett, 71, of Meadland Community, Bridgeport, departed this life at his residence surrounded by his family on Monday, January 11, 2010 following an extended illness.  He was born May 10, 1938 in Morgantown, the son of Robert E. Trickett of Grafton and the late Arlene Carder Trickett. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Charlotte “Jane” Dunham Trickett, whom he married on August 8, 1958.  Also surviving are his four daughters and their families.  Cathy, husband Bill Barnosky and son Glenn of Mt. Clare; Janet, husband David Gobel and daughters Erica and Brooke of Grafton; Sarah, husband Jim D’Agata, sons Keith Cecil and Vincenzo of Naples, Fl; Kelly, husband Jim Brown, daughter Mallory and son Averey of Grafton. 

He is also survived by two sisters, Deloris and husband Dick Malcomson of Morgantown and Karen and husband Dave Cox of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Neal Trickett.

Richard was a graduate of Grafton High School with the Class of 1956.  He also attended West Virginia University.  In moving to Grafton from Morgantown in 1953 he worked on a Dairy Farm with his father and brother and they later then formed Trickett Trucking Company.  In later years he drove over the road trucks and retired from Western Express Freight Line Company.

Richard had a great entrepreneur spirit and pursued that interest with enthusiasm.  He also gained enjoyment from his gardening skills.  He was known for his strawberry patch and “Trickett Beans,” which his extended family and friends all enjoyed.  In his leisure time he enjoyed golfing, bowling or watching Nascar Racing/ Sports on TV, his favorite teams were the WVU Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He was an active member of the Jewel City Church, pastored by Robert L. Shingleton located in Shinnston.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Wednesday from 2 – 8 pm, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2010 with Pastor Robert L. Shingleton presiding.  Interment will be in Hepzibah Cemetery located in Taylor County.
