Back Send condolences to the Matthey Family
Sadie B. Matthey, 78, of Clarksburg, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at her residence. She was born on in Shinnston on August 4, 1931, a daughter of the late Morley H. and Dessie D. Wilson Thompson.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Matthey, Sr.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert L. Matthey, Jr., Clarksburg; and Steve Matthey and his wife Dolla, Jarvisville; two grandchildren, Misty Edwards of Dover, Delaware; Stephanie Helmick and her husband Robbie, Jarvisville; two great-grandchildren, Mia Helmick and Clarissa Helmick, both of Jarvisville; and two special friends, Janet Woofter and Jennie Bobbins.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by a brother, John G. Thompson; and three sisters, Pauline Little, Alma Messenger; and Mary Binegar.
Sadie was a graduate of Victory High School and attended a year of business college. She was President of Ladies Homemaker Club, and an active member of PTA and 4-H leadership groups throughout the years. She enjoyed cooking, sharing recipes, quilting and especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren. She attended the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church and Prayer Chapel.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Home Hospice Service.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, where services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010, at 1pm with Reverend Ben Simmons and Reverend Etheldean Yanero presiding. Interment will follow in Middleville Baptist Church Cemetery.
