Mary Lucile Mick Ward, 82, of Bridgeport died on Wednesday December 23, 2009 at United Hospital Center following an extended battle with cancer.  She was born April 30, 1927 in Weston a daughter of the late Ralph C Mick and Mary Hattie Harper Mick. 

She was also preceded in death by her husband John Charlton Ward who passed away on April 30, 1983. 

She is survived by one son, John Cleetus Ward, II and his wife Lori of Buckhannon; two daughters, Marsha Lynn Snyder and her husband James of Bridgeport and Tina Carol Ward of Grafton; four grandchildren, Katherine Ward, John Ward, III, Kurtis Ward and Lydia Ward; five brothers and sisters, William R. Mick of Grafton, Jean Anderson of Chaparral, NM, Susan F. Frey of Charlotte, NC, John R. Mick of Grafton and Pamela Mick also of Grafton; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Reverend Carl Franklin Mick and one sister, Judith E. Skeen.

Mrs. Ward was Methodist by faith and as she was not able to attend church in later years, however, she held bible study in her home.  She worked as a kindergarten teacher as well as in the restaurant business serving as owner, operator and worker.  She loved to sing and also was a Girl Scout Leader.

Family and friends may call Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue Bridgeport on Monday December 28, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 pm with Reverend Samuel Simoes presiding.  Interment will follow in Pt. Pleasant Cemetery, Abbott, WV

I am so sorry for our loss of Aunt Lucile. I have many fond memories of her from when we would visit as kids or she would come out to Audra State Park
and visit us when we were camping there.
