Donald Francis Bramer, Sr., 67, of Bridgeport, passed away Friday morning, November 27, 2009, in Ruby Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  He was born in Marshville on December 7, 1941, a son of the late Wade S. and Mildred Smith Bramer.

 

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Margaret "Beany" Weber Bramer, whom he married on October 31, 1964. 

 

In addition to his wife he is also survived by three children, Yvonne Denise Eakle and her husband Tom of Clarksburg; Eva Marie Conner and her husband Scott of Bridgeport; and Donald F. Bramer, Jr. and his wife Paula of Bridgeport; six grandchildren, Allee Bramer Johnson and her husband Patrick; Dak Bramer, Morgan Conner, Trent Conner, Trey Conner and Alex Eakle; two brothers, Arnold Jackson Bramer and his wife Connie, Clyde Lee Bramer and his companion Alberta Bramer; a sister, Deborah Camp and her husband Steven, all of Bridgeport; nieces and nephews, Louisa Gates, Wade Bramer, Steven Camp, Kathy Camp, Danielle Camp, Crystal Camp, Andy Bramer, Amanda Bramer, Tim Weber, Jimmy Yost, Doug Yost and Mike Yost; his mother-in-law, Eva Marie Montoya Weber of Clarksburg; and a sister-in-law Stephanie Morgan Bramer of Clarksburg; and several aunts and uncles.

 

Don was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and also attended two years of Business College in Washington, DC.  He was a veteran of the United States Army having served from 1964-1966.  He was a superintendant for Melon Stuart in Pittsburgh, PA and Marks Construction in Clarksburg, and was responsible for overseeing the construction of many landmark local buildings, including the Elkins Federal Building, Nutter Fort Elementary, and Clarksburg City Hall.  He was a member of the Carpenters Union 476 with 40 years of service and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 68, Bridgeport.  He was very devoted to his wife and family, and enjoyed seeing his grandkids in their sporting events.  One of the most important dates on his calendar was the Bramer Family Reunion, which he faithfully attended in Marshville.  He also enjoyed hunting and spending time at the family farm in Marshville.

 

Family and friends may call Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Sunday from 4 - 8 p.m. and on Monday from 2 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Joyce Williams Fast presiding.  Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery, where Military Funeral Honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard.

Don and his family have been friends since our high school days back in the late 50's and early 60's. Don was a fine man who will be missed by all.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Bramer family during this most difficult time.

Our hearts go out to you.  Donnie was always a wonderful friend of our family, stopping by to see about my Mother and Father (Mariolive and Paul) in Marshville so many times for years and years.   We will be sending prayers, too.
