Back Send condolences to the Armstrong Family
Ross W. Armstrong, 79, of Bridgeport, passed away Friday evening, September 11, 2009, in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Terra Alta on March 8, 1930, a son of the late Loyd R. and Hattie E. Cox Armstrong.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Griffith Armstrong, on July 19, 2006. They were married July 10, 1953.
He is survived by a sister, Evaleen Gallagher of Hoytsville, OH; a brother-in-law, Robert Griffith and his wife Patty, Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.
Ross was a veteran having served in the Army Military Police and later in the Navy aboard the USS Conway. He was a self-employed general contractor, and was Baptist.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Monday, September 14, 2009, from 10 am – 1 pm, where services will be held at 1 pm with Pastor Jim Sanders presiding. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
