Back Send condolences to the Steadman Family


Talon Kent Steadman, 16, of Brushy Fork Road, Bridgeport, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2009, from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. He was born November 30, 1992, in Clarksburg, a son of Richard Kent “Dick” and Susan Janine Riffle Steadman of Brushy Fork Road.
He is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Martha Ellen Steadman of Grafton, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Richard Kenneth Steadman; and his maternal grandparents, Robert Lee Riffle and Lenora Jean Blake Riffle.
Talon loved sports and played football and lacrosse for Bridgeport High School where he was a Junior. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Key Club. He was also an in-line speedskater who raced with the Rollin Rednex through Skateworld in Bridgeport.
For the last two years he worked for the Harrison County Parks and Recreation as a playground supervisor and in the office. Talon liked to travel and to hunt. He liked to be the center of attention and to make people laugh. He was an animal lover especially for his dog Buddy Lee and his cat Charlie.
He never saw any differences in people nor did he ever meet a stranger. Talon taught himself sign language and his aspiration was to go to college and become a teacher of sign language.
Memorial contributions may be made to the WV Chapter of the Alexander Graham Bell Assoc., WV MountainEARS, PO Box 2172, Fairmont, WV 26555-2172 for the continued training and community awareness of hearing loss issues for both children and adults.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 2 to 8 pm Tuesday, where services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 2, 2009. Interment will follow at Simpson Cemetery.
