Back Send condolences to the Simons Family
James R. Simons, 69, passed away Thursday morning, August 6, 2009, following an extended illness. He was born in Bridgeport on April 6, 1940, a son of the late Russell Glenn and Agnes Louise Newlon Simons.
He is survived by his six children, James R Simons II and his wife Elizabeth, Randolph, NJ; Sarah Giles and her husband Brian, Culloden; Esther Kinnison and her husband Charles; Daniel Simons; Rebekah Simons and her fiancé Matthew Weber; and Naomi Simons, all of Elkins. A brother, Ronnie Simons and his wife Wilma, Bridgeport; a sister, Carol Weissmann and her husband Henry, Binghamton, NY; and several nieces and nephews complete his family.
In his early years, James had worked for the railroad and drove truck for various companies.
He attended the Church of God most of his life and loved the Lord. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent most of his free time in the woods. Family and friends will sadly miss him.

Friends may call at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Monday morning, August 10, 2009, from 10 -11 am, and graveside services will be held at WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown, on Monday at 11:30 am, where Military Funeral Honors will be accorded.
