Back Send condolences to the Singleton Family
Joyce A. Singleton, 86, of Rt. 4, Clarksburg passed away on Wednesday morning April 29, 2009 at United Hospital Center following a lengthly illness. She was born on September 25, 1922, in Charleston, a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Grace Lanham Febuary.
On May 3, 1949, she married Harley G. Singleton, who preceded her in death on January 9, 2003.
She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn E. Moore and companion Paul “Snowflake” Foresta, Willoughby, OH; Judy Maxwell and her husband John, Clarksburg; and J. Annette Hareras and her husband Dennis, Scenery Hill, PA; grandchildren, Kili Palacat and companion Christa Hall; Kimberly Goff and her husband Chad, all of Clarksburg; S. Amber Moore and fiancée Keith Taylor, Washington, DC; S. Adam Moore and his wife Emily, Talmadge, OH; Lakia and her husband Tsekani Browne, Pittsburgh, PA; Joy Maxwell and John David Maxwell and his wife Paula of Clarksburg. Ten great-grandchildren, Kailea and Xander Goff, Olivia and Chloe Moore, Alyssa Martinez, Katie Mascari, Anabel and Tabetha Toothman, Lena and Lauren Maxwell; two sisters, Virginia Jordan, NC; and Betty James and her husband Bill, Sutton, WV ; three brothers, James E. Febuary, Sutton; Charles Febuary and his wife Pat, Seattle, WA; and Monty Febuary and his wife Gerda, Macon, GA, complete her family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jacob Moore.
Joyce was a bookkeeper by profession, starting when she did the books at Radio City Music Hall and Macys in NY in the ‘40’s. She worked at various places throughout her career including Garden Fresh and H & R Block, and created her own bookkeeping and tax service in Clarksburg, retiring just a few years ago. She loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday from 4 – 8 pm, where services will be held at 10 am on Saturday morning, May 2, 2009, with her brother Pastor Monty Febuary presiding. Interment will follow in Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
