Elmore V. “Bud” Boggs, 84, of Pine Street, Stonewood, passed away Thursday morning, April 16, 2009, at his residence.  He was born July 29, 1924, in Hacker Valley, a son of the late Boyd B. and Lillie Gibson Boggs.                          

He is survived by his wife, Danelda Galvin Boggs, whom he married July 24, 1944. 

Also surviving are two sons, Keith Boggs and his wife Ann, Bridgeport, and David Boggs and his wife Alma, South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Dan Swiatowski, Diane Wilson and her husband Bruce; Ryan Boggs; Darren Boggs; Derrick Boggs and his wife Samah; Lee Ann Akerberg and her husband Edgar; and Jonathan Boggs and his wife Wendi; 12 great-grandchildren; an aunt, Myrtle Gregory; and several cousins. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharlyn Ann Boggs; and three brothers, Thurman Boggs; Ray Boggs; and Nahom “Nickie” Boggs. 

Bud retired in 1985 from Union Carbide as a control room operator after 37 years of service.  He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the US Navy in the European Theatre.  He was a 53-year member of Hermon Lodge #6 A.F. & A.M., Clarksburg; 32nd degree Scottish Rite with membership in the Clarksburg and Wheeling bodies; Royal Arch Mason of WV, Adoniran #11, Clarksburg; Nemesis Shrine AAONMS, Parkersburg; Central WV Shrine Club, Clarksburg; Lewis County Shrine Club, Weston; and member and Past-president of the Oriental Band, Clarksburg.  He was also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Clarksburg.

 He loved being involved with the Shriner activities, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Since 1950 he has been a member of Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Stonewood.

 In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 411 Hazelwood Avenue, Stonewood, WV 26301; the Visiting Angels,  200  Hellieport Loop Road, Bridgeport, WV 26330; or Tender Loving Care Hospice, 119 Pennsylvania Avenue, Bridgeport, WV 26330.

 Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Sunday from 2-8 pm, where services will be held on Monday morning, April 20, 2009, at 11 am with Pastor Jerome Lewis presiding.  Interment will follow in Lumberport Lions Club Cemetery, where Military Funeral Honors will be accorded and also Masonic Graveside Rites by Hermon Lodge #6 A.F. &  A.M.
