Back Send condolences to the Deem Family
Ernest L. Deem, 83, of East View, died Wednesday afternoon, February 25, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Erie on August 20, 1925, the son of the late Decota and Arzanna Haught Deem.
He is survived by three sons, Ronald L. Deem and his wife Linda, Sandersville, GA; Roger T. Deem, Clarksburg; and D. Duane Deem and his wife Becky, Clarksburg; one granddaughter, Dakota Jo Deem, Clarksburg; four step-grandchildren, Angie Cain, Amanda Oldaker, and Joey Guzzi, all of Clarksburg; Scott Smith, Sandersville, GA; and five step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dortha Farnsworth and Ernestine Price; and six brothers, Burleigh Deem, Homer Deem, Decota Deem, Jr., Richard Deem, Lawrence Deem, and Dana Deem.
He retired from Jerry’s Auto and was a member of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada and played bass guitar in numerous bands. He was awarded the Purple Heart while serving in the Army Infantry during World War II.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Sunday from 4 – 8 pm, where services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009, at 11 am with Pastor Adam Justice presiding. Interment will follow in WV National Cemetery, where Military Funeral Honors will be accorded.
