Back        Send condolences to the Riffle Family

 Nellie Riffle

Nellie Lorraine Riffle, 78, of Glen Falls, joined her Heavenly Father on January 14, 2009 surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.

Sixty-two years ago she became the young bride of Howard W. “Bill” Riffle, who survives in Glen Falls.

She was the proud mother of six children, Howard Riffle and his wife Shirley, Glen Falls; Alice Shaw and her husband Tom, Quiet Dell; Kathy Dodd and her husband Rocky, Glen Falls; Mark Riffle and his wife Lisa, Glen Falls; Randy Riffle and Donna, Glen Falls; and Lori Ann Evanoski and her husband Jon of Good Hope.

She was very much loved by her grandchildren.  They loved visiting her and enjoyed her wonderful meals she prepared just for them.  They are Howard Riffle and his wife Nancy, Glen Falls; Carrie Shaver and her husband Scott, Glen Falls; Billy Riffle and his wife Jennifer, Glen Falls; Christopher Shaw and his wife Jennifer, Quiet Dell; Staci Dulin and her husband Bob, Farmington; Jason Dodd and his wife Rachel, Sardis; Amber Fazzini and her husband David, Hepzibah; Josh Riffle and Barbara, Clarksburg; and Seth Evanoski, Good Hope.

The great-grandchildren loved sitting at the kitchen table with only her.  She would spoil them with treats that were forbidden by their parents.  They are Zachary and Alexis Riffle of Lost Creek; Kesley Shaver, Glen Falls; the twins, Tristen and Trenton Shaw of Quiet Dell; Gracie and Jensen Dodd, Sardis; Branson and Brooklyn Fazzini, Hepzibah; Lauren Riffle, Clarksburg.  She was eagerly awaiting the birth of Staci’s baby in May and Josh’s baby in July to add to her treasures.

She has joined her grandson Justin Riffle who awaited her in Heaven.

“Mommie” always had Sunday dinner for any of her children and families that visited that day.  Her birthdays were an excuse to cook for the family once more.  The family will miss sitting around her table with her serving them with good food and lots of love.

Nellie was very generous to everyone in need and was a wonderful Christian.

Then a poor widow came and dropped two pennies. He called His disciples to Him and said, “I assure you this poor widow has given more than all the others have given.  For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”   Mark 12: 42-44

Her wish was to be cremated, and arrangements are under the care of Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport.
