David Ray Richards

David R. Richards, 61, of Laurel Lea, Clarksburg, passed away suddenly at his residence Tuesday, December 23, 2008. He was born in Clarksburg on March 17, 1947, a son of the late Stanley Steele Richards and the late Bonnie Jean Hancock Richards Smith, and he was the step-son of Charles Smith, who survives in Bridgeport. 

David is survived by his wife, Claudia Marie Corbin Richards, whom he married October 7, 1971. Also surviving is his son, Eric Richards of Clarksburg, a step-sister, Kandy Frankie and her husband Dr. Dave Frankie of Bridgeport, and a step-brother, Dana Smith of Clarksburg. 

David graduated from Bridgeport High School and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired from Lockheed-Martin in 2005 as a machine assemblyman after 25 years of service. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1 pm Saturday, December 27, 2008, with Reverend Thomas P. Horne presiding. Interment will follow at Bridgeport Cemetery.
