Robert C. Walker
Robert Claude Walker, 82, of Circle Drive, Quiet Dell, passed away at 3:25 pm Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at United Hospital Center. He was born June 27, 1926, on Brushy Fork, a son of the late William Gilbert and Nettie Jane Russell Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Virginia May Cheuvront Walker; four children, Richard K. Walker of Lumberport, Jane L. Walker Yanero and her husband Al of Fairmont, Roger A. Walker and his wife Debbie of Mooresville, NC, and Randy E. Walker of West Milford; five grandchildren, Joshua, Eric, Scott, Lisha, and Jennifer; one sister, Mildred McCarty of Charleston; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was preceded in death by four brothers, Roscoe, Coplin, Roy and Bill Walker and six sisters, Tressie McCray, Vaugh Newberry, Garnet Rouser, Martha Wright, Florence Allen and Velma Williams.
He retired from Union Carbide in 1986 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Carbide Retirees and the Harrison County Senior Center.
Mr. Walker enjoyed auto racing and local gospel and country music shows. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, on Friday from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 pm, where services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at 11 am with Reverend Mary Ellen Finegan and Reverend George Bramble presiding. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
