Dorothy G. Jackson

Dorothy Jackson, 80, of Pennsylvania Avenue, Bridgeport, passed away Monday evening, December 1, 2008, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Hundred on August 28, 1928, the only daughter of the late Clarence C. “Buss” and Inez Irene Parrish Spitznogle.

She is survived by her husband, Clay M. Jackson.  Also surviving are two daughters, Penny Lynn Cunningham and her husband Richard, Georgia; and Teresa Beth Wagner and her husband Richard Lee, Bridgeport; her son, Allen Clay Jackson and his wife Lillie Marlene, Jane Lew; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, James O. Spitznogle and his wife Cloritta; and Ralph R. Spitznogle and his wife Barbara, all of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was a graduate of Hundred High School and Riggs Lamar Beauty School, Wheeling.  She was the former owner of the Silver Scissors in Weston and Jackson’s Beauty Shop in Bridgeport.  She was a member of Bridgeport Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions in Dorothy’s memory are encouraged to be made to Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105

At her request, private services will be held with the family and interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
