Esther Courtney
Esther Davisson Courtney, 82, formerly of Willow Lane, Bridgeport, passed away Monday afternoon, November 24, 2008, in Mon General Hospital. She was born August 4, 1926, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Zadok and Ollie Merle Swiger Davisson.
On December 24, 1945, she married James Junior Courtney, who preceded her in death on March 6, 2002.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Davisson Courtney and his wife Catherine, Blandon, PA; a granddaughter, Sarah Rohrbaugh, Omaha, NE; three grandsons, Charles Phares, Daniel Phares, and James Phares, all of Morgantown; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Crystal Phares Brown, on June 18, 1997; two sisters, Ruth Thomas and Mary Golden; and her brother, James Davisson.
Esther was a graduate of R-W High School and was a lab technician for the office of Dr. James Thompson. She was Protestant.
Private interment services were held at WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown.
