Back Send condolences to the Markley Family

Juanita R. Auvil Markley
A grand reunion was held in Heaven on Wednesday morning, October 1, 2008, when Juanita Ruth Markley, Bridgeport, was reunited with her beloved husband of 59 years, James Markley. Juanita left this world after an extended illness at the United Hospital Center. She was born in Philippi on October 24, 1920, a daughter of the late William Quinter and Virginia C. Parker Auvil. She was preceded in death by her mother at the age of 2.
She married her high school sweetheart, James Markley on August 30, 1946, and they remained deeply committed and devoted to each other until Jim’s death on October 4, 2005. Juanita is the proud mother of 3 daughters, Janet Ruth Bucy and her husband Ron of Bridgeport; Sharon Kay Kelley and her husband Lee of Quiet Dell; and Kim Elaine Markley of Bridgeport. Juanita also has five grandchildren, Mark Bucy and his wife Amy of Eden, NC; Lisa Povroznik and her husband Mark of Bridgeport; Amy Lowther and her husband Scott of Clarksburg; Richard Kelley of Brooksville, Florida; and Carrie Lee and her husband Jeremy of French Creek; eight great-grandchildren, Alanna Lowther, Bethany, Rachel and Isaiah Lee, Hannah and Sarah Povroznik; Matthew and Michael Bucy; a brother, Reverend Kermit “Bob” Auvil and his wife Jewel of Quiet Dell; and a half-brother Albert Auvil of Buckhannon.
In addition to her husband and parents, Juanita was preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Stewart, Violet Auvil, Dorlena Benson and Lela Opal Auvil; and one brother, Kenneth Auvil.
Juanita graduated from Philippi High School in 1939, attended Alderson-Broaddus College, and WV Business College in Clarksburg. During World War II, she worked as a clerk at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
Juanita loved her family; she was a devoted wife, a terrific mother (even though she grew up without her own mother), grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a great cook and no one ever left her dinner table hungry. She loved to play piano, garden, can, bake, and keep a clean house. She was an active member of her church, Johnson Avenue United Methodist. She regularly attended Sunday school and was a one time member of the church choir. Juanita loved life. She loved to travel and recently enjoyed a trip to the Amish country. She loved to get a good meal at a good restaurant, giggle at something funny, watch her shows on Saturday nights, and read the Farmer’s Almanac.
Juanita was loved by everyone who met her and will be sorely missed by those she has left behind, but we find comfort in knowing that she is happy in Heaven with her Jim.
