Helen Shook

Helen Elizabeth Duckworth Shook, 84, of East View, Clarksburg, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 20, 2008. She was born January 13, 1924, in Braxton County a daughter of the late Robert and Delphia Godfrey Barnett.

Helen is survived by her husband of 40 precious years, Harold Shook, Sr. Also surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Jane Bryant, at home; one son, John Thomas Duckworth and his wife Edie of Peotone, IL; and one step-son, Harold Shook, Jr. and his wife Margie of Glenville; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Hale Barnett, one sister, Rose Kerkes, and one step-daughter, Pamela Deem.

Helen was a member of the East View United Methodist Church. She sang in the choir and enjoyed working with the Women’s Society. She was also a lay speaker.

She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved flowers, watching TBN, listening to gospel music and reading her Bible.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 2 to 8 PM Tuesday, September 25, 2008. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 PM Wednesday with Reverend Kenny Kendal and Reverend Randy Smith presiding. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
