Tranise B. Wiant

Tranise B. Wiant, 96, formerly of Bridgeport and Grafton, passed away Wednesday morning, September 3, 2008, in Newark, Delaware. She was born October 8, 1911, in Kincheloe, the only child of the late H.G. and Roxie Boner Wolfe.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Harry L. Wiant, in 2003.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald L. Wiant & his wife Joan of Newark, DE; and David L. Wiant & his wife Mary Jo, of Bear, DE; 4 grandsons, Michael Wiant, Middletown, DE; Brent Wiant & his wife Dawn, Gastonia, NC; Daniel Wiant, Lewes, DE; and Timothy Wiant & his wife Jennifer, Newark, DE; 8 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Augusta, Austin, Alex, Matthew, Zachary, Amelia and Tyler Wiant.

Mrs. Wiant was a graduate of Morgantown High School, Class of 1929, and received a BS degree in Home Economics from WVU in 1933. She had taught Home Economics at Lost Creek High School, and was a social worker for the Taylor County Dept. of Health and Human Resources. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 56, of West Union and was an avid sports fan, especially of WVU football and basketball.

The family suggests contributions in Mrs. Wiant’s memory to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Rd., Newark, DE 19711.

 Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Monday, September 8, 2008, at Bridgeport Cemetery with Rev. Bert Coffman presiding.

Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport, is assisting the Wiant family with the local arrangements.
