Karle W. McInturff

Karle W. McInturff, 76, of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008, in the United Hospital Center.  He was born May 6, 1932, in Nutter Fort, a son of the late John and Grace Looman McInturff.

He is survived by his only son, Paul D. McInturff and his wife Stephanie A. (Stout) McInturff, and two granddaughters Emily Elizabeth and Grace Ilene, all of Bridgeport, with whom he resided.

In addition to his parents, Karle was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Etta Knight McInturff in August 2001. They were united in marriage on August 10, 1956. He was also preceded by an older brother, John McInturff, and an infant sister.

Karle graduated from Roosevelt Wilson High School in 1951, and he served for two years in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He worked for Union Carbide, Maidenform as an equipment repairman and retired from Lockheed Aircraft as a machinist in 1990.

He was an active member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Clarksburg having served multiple terms on the Trustee and Deacon Boards. He also served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent and was a past director of Teens For Christ in the 60’s and 70’s. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Board of Emmanuel Christian School in 1972 and served as treasurer for nearly 20 years.

His voice was known throughout Harrison County as the producer and host of “Echos of Emmanuel”, a weekly radio broadcast of Emmanuel Baptist Church. During the last decade of his life he found his life purpose in personal visitation of those that were sick or in need. He was known for his loving and faithful attention to those within his church family.

 Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 2 to 8 PM Monday, where services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 1, 2008,  with Reverend Joe Riggs, Reverend Don Matheny, and Pastor Sam Schwenk presiding. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
