Helen Ruth Stark
Helen Ruth Stark, 80, of Mannington, went to be with the Lord Sunday evening, May 4, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 7, 1927, in Littleton, WV, the daughter of the late Arliff and Mamie Lemley Murphy.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Stark, whom she married in August 1946.
She is also survived by her daughter, Dianna Wolfe and her husband Everett, Mannington; a son-in-law, John Fordyce, Fairmont; 5 grandchildren, Marci Rennie, Stacy Wolfe, Joshua Wolfe, John Fordyce, and Harold Fordyce; and 3 great-grandchildren, Austyn and Ezra Mayo and Elissa Rennie. Two sisters, Doris Coombs, Morgantown; and Maxine Randolph and her husband Bud, Salem; two brothers, Lloyd Murphy and his wife Dean, Fairmont; and Frank Murphy and his wife Dottie, Salem; and many nieces and nephews who loved her, complete her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Fordyce; her mother-in-law, Thelma Stark; two brothers, Dale Murphy and James Murphy; and a sister, Pauline Howard.
Her past enjoyment before her illness was sewing. She enjoyed camping with her family and her brothers and sisters. Most of all she loved reading her Bible and her missionary literature from her church. She was a life long member of Wolf Summit Wesleyan Methodist Church. After moving to Mannington, she was a faithful attendee of the Merrifield Memorial Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Wednesday from 2 – 8 pm, where services will be held Thursday morning at 11 am with Reverend Ron Yoder presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
