Bettie M. Chenoweth
Bettie M. Chenoweth, 71, of Green Valley community, Bridgeport, passed away Saturday evening, May 3, 2008, in the United Hospital Center. She was born May 10, 1936, in Harman, a daughter of Zettie Huffman Wolford, who survives in Thomas, and the late Charles Wolford.
In addition to her mother, Bettie is survived by her husband, Clair Chenoweth, whom she married January 18, 1964.
Also surviving are her daughter, Lisa Mullen and her husband Frank of Bridgeport; two step-sons, Roger C. Chenoweth and his wife Joanne, North Pole, Alaska; and Matthew Allen Chenoweth and his wife Totie, Pruntytown; nine grandchildren, Jessica Turnbull, Ericka Chenoweth, Melissa Chenoweth, Rebecca Chenoweth, Jennifer Chenoweth, Scott Chenoweth, Jill Chenoweth, Christina Mullen, and Christopher Mullen; five great-grandchildren, Claire Mullen, Lacie Chenoweth, Taylor Chenoweth, MacKenzie Turnbull, and Adelia Turnbulll; one brother, Richard Wolford and his wife Grace of Red Creek; and two sisters, Shirley Chenoweth and Joanne Judy, both of Elkins.
In addition to her father, Bettie was preceded in death by a sister in infancy.
Bettie was a graduate of Harman High School. She worked for Bell Telephone in Kent, OH for ten years and also worked for Chenoweth Ford.
She had attended Faith Fellowship church and was a member of Horizons Church. She loved flowers and was a Christian woman who enjoyed taking care of her family. She served God all her life, enjoyed travelling and especially loved the beach.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Monday from 5 – 8 pm, and on Tuesday from 2 – 8 pm, where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am with Pastor Ron Hill presiding. Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery.
