Beulah F. Snider Hughes

Beulah F. Snider Hughes, 96, of Lost Creek, passed away Wednesday evening, April 16, 2008, at the Crestview Manor.  She was born in Doddridge County on June 25, 1911, a daughter of the late Ira Calvert and Stella May Tate Snider.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mathew Carlton Hughes, on April 17, 1978.

She is survived by a daughter, Carlene Bertran, Lost Creek; 4 sons, Charles Hughes and his wife Frankie, Madison, OH; John Hughes and his wife Margaret, Weston;  David Hughes and his wife Grace, Lost Creek; and Mike Hughes, Lost Creek; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Chipps, Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bill Hughes, a grandson, Craig Bertran; 3 brothers, Lawrence, Harley and Russell Snider, and 4 sisters, Goldie Johnson, Bea Davis, and Lula Rollins, her twin sister, and Ruby Nicholson.

Beulah was a member of Lost Creek United Methodist Church since 1945 and was a charter member of the Lost Creek Senior Citizens. She enjoyed working with ceramics.  She had previously worked at United Hospital Center in the Laundry Department. 

Friends may call at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday, April 18, 2007, from 2 – 7 p.m., where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dick Chipps presiding.  Interment will follow in Broad Run Cemetery, Jane Lew.
