Margaret J. Hathaway
Margaret Jane Gillis Hathaway, 87, of Meadowbrook, died Tuesday evening, February 19, 2008, at the United Hospital Center following an extended illness. She was born on October 25, 1920, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late James A. and Emanda Rutherford Gillis.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Howard W. Hathaway, Sr., whom she married April 26, 1941.
She is survived by two sons, Howard W. Hathaway, Jr. and his fiancée Betty L. Peek of Punta Gorda, FL; and Brian A. Hathaway, at home; four daughters, Cynthia Davis of Martinsburg; Kimberly Marcozzi and husband Steve of Lawrenceburg, KY; Margaret Langley and husband Reverend Jay Langley of Cranberry Township, PA; and Trina Hathaway, Meadowbrook; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being preceded in death by brothers, Arthur, Wilbur, and Edwin Gillis; and sisters, Janice Dansak and Maxine Butcher. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Linda Allawatt Hathaway.
Margaret was a faithful member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she served her church in many different capacities prior to failing health.
At Margaret’s request, there will be a private funeral service to be held for the family, with entombment to be held in Everlasting Life Mausoleum at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
