Edwin Keith Watkins, Jr.
Edwin Keith Watkins, Jr., 54, of Circle Drive, Bridgeport, passed away Friday morning, February 8, 2008, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Clarksburg on October 20, 1953, a son of the late Edwin Keith and Betty M. Wolfe Watkins.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Melinda A. Shipley Watkins.
Also surviving are his daughter, Dawn E. Watkins, Lost Creek, and his son, Zachery Scott Watkins, Jackson, MI; 2 grandsons, Joshua Edwin White and Brandon Keith White, both of Bridgeport; and a sister, Diane Frye, East View. His mother-in-law, Myra Shipley, Nutter Fort; a special cousin, William Fulton, Huntington; a niece, Carrie Herrod, a nephew, Jason Frye; and many other in-laws, nieces, nephews, and family members complete his family.
Junior was an assistant plant manager of ChemCentral in Atlanta and Detroit, with over 25 years of service. He was a graduate of R-W High School, Class of 1971, and enjoyed playing golf and fishing.
The family would like to thank Peoples Hospice, especially Liz Pigg, for the wonderful care given to Junior since September. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Melinda to be used for the care of his grandsons.
Friends may call at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Monday from 12 – 2 pm, where services will be held at 2 pm with Reverend Frank Shipley presiding. At his request, Junior will be cremated following the service.
