Velva Clara Wilfong

Velva Clara Wilfong, 62, of Rosemont, died Saturday evening, January 5, 2008, at the Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas, where she had been a resident for 3 ˝ years.  She was born in Rosemont on January 23, 1945, the youngest daughter of the late Bedford “Shorty” and Mary Trusler Wilfong.

She is survived by four brothers, Denver Wilfong and his wife Nancy of Bushnell, FL; Bedford “Bud” Wilfong Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Belington; John Wilfong and his wife Penny of Flemington; and Charles Wilfong and his wife Nancy of Grandville, MI; five sisters, Louise Trimble of Flemington; Nettie Fosselman and her husband Donald of Easley, SC; Shirley Frum and her husband William of Rosemont; Mary Henley and her husband Bill of Decherd, TN; and Janet Alexander and her husband Tom of Big Fork, MT.  Two sisters-in-law, Juanita Wilfong and Geneva Wilfong, both of Rosemont; two aunts, Imogene Philips of Memphis, TN and Betty White of Clarksburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews complete her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, George, and Raymond Wilfong; and one sister, Icy Greathouse.

Velva enjoyed going camping, fishing, and traveling with her parents and family.  She always enjoyed playing card games and visits with her brothers’ and sisters’ children.  She was a very loving and caring sister and aunt and will be greatly missed.

Friends may call at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Patty Post presiding.  Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Flemington.
