Send Condolences to the Woodson Family

David L. Woodson

David Lee Woodson, 73, of Anmoore, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 2, 2007, in Ruby Memorial Hospital.  He was born in Doddridge County on November 25, 1934, a son of the late Claude Everett and Cleo Rice Woodson. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanita Sprout Woodson, whom he married June 15, 1957.

Also surviving are their 4 children, Timothy Woodson and his wife Christine, Woodstock, VA; Claude E. Woodson and his wife Debbie, Lost Creek; Charles E. Woodson, and Shari Lynne Nease, both of Bridgeport; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Five brothers, Jim Woodson and his wife Dot, Warsaw, Ohio; William Woodson and his wife Lorena, Anmoore; Richard Woodson and his wife Jane, Odessa, TX; Kenneth Woodson and his wife Terry, Clarksburg; and John Woodson, Charleston; and several nieces and nephews complete his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Claude “Junior” Woodson and Dale “Jack” Woodson.

David could do and did just about everything mechanical and electrical.  He worked for 27 years with the Harrison County Board of Education, first starting with the Maintenance Department for two years, and then serving as a Bus Driver for 25 years, retiring in 1997.  It was during this time that he won many awards at various Bus Rodeos, including 2nd place in the National Bus Rodeo held in California.  He also judged bus rodeos and trained bus drivers.  Years ago, he was a volunteer firefighter with Anmoore Fire Department, worked on cars at Glen Groves garage in his spare time, and drove dirt track stock cars.      

Friends may call at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., where services will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Bishop Chelsey Noel presiding.  Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Anmoore.
