Harry Hebb
Harry Hebb, 85, of Buckhannon and formerly of Stonewood, joined his father and mother, Solomon and Alice Thomas Hebb, in Heaven on Friday morning, October 5, 2007. He was born March 6, 1922 in Tunnelton, WV.
He is survived by his wife Donnie Marie Pase Hebb; his daughter, Sandra Harden of Springfield, MO; two sons, Gerald Hebb of San Antonio, TX; and Gary Hebb of Anmoore; ten grandsons, Kenneth Hebb of NJ; Brian Hebb of NY; Freddie Hebb and his wife Angela, and Tracy Hebb and his wife Teri, all of Austin, TX; Jeffrey Hebb and his wife Angel of Chesapeake, VA; Daniel Harden and his wife Michelle; Ray Downum; and John Bozman and his wife Luisa, all of Springfield, MO; Shannon Hebb of Clarksburg; and Jeremy Hebb and his wife Tracy of Jane Lew; six granddaughters, Cheryl Hyatt and her husband Bobby of San Antonio, TX; Diane Ellis and her husband Gerald of Houston, TX; Ginger Martin, Tammy Webb, and Melva Hall, all of of Springfield, MO; and Stella Hebb of Clarksburg.
Harry is also survived by 34 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Hebb and his wife Christine of Parsons, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by one son, Harry Hebb, Jr. of NY; four brothers, Guy, Russell, John, and Al Hebb; and five sisters, Ethel Thawley, Blanche Manuel, Mabel Fekete, Helen Miller, and Faye Neville.
Harry retired as Sergeant First Class from the United States Army with 24 years service, serving during WWII and the Korean War. He received 12 medals from the military, including the Bronze Star and Distinguished Service Recognition.
He also retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways where he received recognition from the Governor of West Virginia for his service. Harry loved his family and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He attended the Church of God.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Sunday, October 7, 2007, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. with Reverend Ron Miller, Harry’s nephew, presiding. Interment will follow in WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown, where Military Funeral Honors will be accorded.
