1912 - 2007
Cassie Green Stuart Smith, 94, of Clarksburg, and a resident of Heartland Nursing Home, passed away Tuesday morning, September 11, 2007. She was born in Hughesville, MD, on October 29, 1912, a daughter of the late Arthur Starkey and Eva Burroughs Green. She was raised by her grandmother, Cassie Hornor Green.
She was twice married, having been preceded in death by George Fleming Stuart and Harry F. Smith.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Beverlin and her husband Dean, Buckhannon; three grandchildren, Patricia Lowman; Carl Hardy, Jr. and wife Kimberly; and Robert Sommerville, all of Clarksburg; and a great-grandchild.
Cassie worked as a nurse’s aid at both Union Protestant Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the First United Methodist Church of Clarksburg.
At her request, cremation services were provided by Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport, and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
