Jenevieve C. Stout

September 11, 1929 - September 4, 2007

Jenevieve C. Stout, 77, of Stout’s Run, Quiet Dell, passed away Tuesday evening, September 4, 2007, at Heartland of Clarksburg. She was born September 11, 1929, in Lost Creek, a daughter of the late Dow J. and Dilla E. Dawson Lewis.

Her husband with whom she recently celebrated 60 years of marriage, Hubert D. Stout, survives her. They were united in marriage on August 10, 1947.

Additionally, she is survived by her three children and five grandchildren, Denny Stout and his wife Marit of Nutter Fort and their son Jeremy; Anita Fouts of Stout’s Run and her son Matthew; and Terry Stout and his wife Carol of Stout’s Run and their three children Alaina, Benjamin and Jocelyn.

 As the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Conley and Dorothy Zim.

 She was a graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School, and she retired as a school bus driver from the Harrison County Board of Education with 42 years of service. She held the distinction of being the first female school bus driver in Harrison County.

 Jenevieve and Hubert spent 27 years on the farm on Stout’s Run operating their cow and calf operation, with her naming all of the animals. She loved every aspect of farming, being in the outdoors, and all animals.

 She was a devoted member of the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church, where at one time she served as the choir director. Together with her husband, they helped organize the Boy Scout Troop 16 and Cub Scout Pack 16 in Quiet Dell.

 Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2007, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday with Reverend George V. Bramble presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
