L. Glenn Dodd (1946-2007)

L. Glenn Dodd, 60 of Reynoldsville, passed away late Tuesday evening, August 14, 2007 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, OH. He was born November 15, 1946 in Clarksburg, a son of Lucille Beatrice Himes Dodd of Loretta, TN and the late Leo Glenn Dodd. 

His wife of 41 years, Kathryn Jane Lamm Dodd whom he married April 8, 1966, survives him at home.

Additionally, Glenn is survived by his two sons and their wives, Colin Glenn and Rachel Dodd of Lake Floyd and Matthew Kurt and Wendi Dodd of Clarksburg; four grandsons including Jurney, Tanner, Waylon and Hayden Dodd; three brothers, Gary Dodd and his wife Judy of Reynoldsville, John Dodd and his wife Louise of Maryland and Roger Dodd of Pulaski, TN; one sister Loretta Byrd and her husband James of Lawrenceburg, TN and several nieces and nephews.

Glenn was a graduate of Victory High School and served in the United States National Guard for six years, having been discharged in February of 1966 as a Specialist, Fifth Class with the 119th Engineering Company.

He retired in June of 2007 as a Cable Splicing Technician with 41 years of service at Verizon Communications. He was an active member of the Communication Workers of America Union and coached youth sports for several years.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions in Glenn’s memory should be made to the Clarksburg Panthers Youth Football Program through any Wesbanco Bank branch office. For more information, you can email the Panthers at clarksburgpanthers@yahoo.com.

In keeping with Glenn’s wishes, his request for cremation has been honored.

A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport on Friday August 17, 2007 at 6:00 PM with Pastor Bryan Lamm presiding. Friends are welcome to visit with the family one hour prior to the start of the service from 5:00 – 6:00 PM. Interment will follow at a later date in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.
