Wilbert J. “Webb” “Pappy” Davis, 90, of Flinderation Road, Salem, and formerly of Liberty Addition, Clarksburg, passed away early Sunday morning, July 8, 2007, at Clarksburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Salem on November 20, 1916, a son of the late Orlando Davis, Sr. and Beulah Matheny Davis.

On September 22, 1939, he married Martha J. McAtee Davis, who preceded him in death on September 10, 1999.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Rosa Davis, Willingboro, NJ; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Winans, Salem; and Judith and Garry Davis, Clarksburg; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.  A brother and sister-in-law, Everitt Eugene Davis and his wife Evelyn, Salem; three sisters, Helen Lattea, Salem; Betty Combs, Falmouth, KY; and Tressie Gay Ware, Wintersville, OH; and several nieces and nephews complete his family.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Samuel Zane Davis; three brothers, Orlando Davis, Jr; Raymond Elwood Davis; and Owen Taylor Davis; and three sisters, Madeline Freeman; Kathleen Davis; and Dessie May Freeman.

Webb retired from Consolidated Gas Supply Corporation, Bridgeport District, in 1982.  He was a member of Wilsonburg Baptist Church and the Harrison County Senior Citizens, where he enjoyed painting ceramics.  He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., where services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Reverend        presiding.  Interment will follow in Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.
