Burnette Marguerite Sundholm Bonshire (1920 - 2007)

Burnette Marguerite Sundholm Bonshire, 87, of Maple Lake, Bridgeport, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 27, 2007 at The Heritage in Bridgeport following a lengthy illness. She was born April 13, 1920 in Whiting, Indiana, a daughter of the late John Erick and Hilma Augusta Ekenstam (Hector) Sundholm.

Her husband of 25 years, Jack E. Bonshire whom she married June 15, 1946, preceded her in death on his 50th birthday on July 8, 1971.

Mrs. Bonshire is survived by one son, William E. Bonshire and his wife Kathi of Snellville, GA; three daughters including Carol Morrison and her husband Ed of Maple Lake, Beverly Fogg and her husband Tom of Bridgeport, and Terri Olsson and her husband Jan of Cincinnati, OH; eight grandchildren including Brooke (Morrison) Carnes and her husband Brant of Bridgeport, Cory Morrison, Alyssa Jacobs and Annika Olsson all of Cincinnati, OH, David, Jenna and Kelsey Fogg all of Bridgeport and Melissa Ford and her husband Chris of Huntsville, AL; five great-grandchildren including Bryce and Brody Carnes of Bridgeport, and Catherine, Ansley and Jackson Ford all of Huntsville, AL; her nephew Scott Bonshire and his wife Barb of Oak Forest, IL, and her friend and caregiver for many years, Carol McKinney of Bridgeport.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Helmer, and three sisters, Violet, Eve and Alice.

Mrs. Bonshire was a longtime and very active member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, as well as the Chestnut Hills Garden Club, and the Bidawees Bunco Club of Clarksburg. She enjoyed playing Bridge, Canasta, golf, bowling and bingo.

Above all, Burnie (MeeMaw) will be best remembered for her love of family, her faith in God and her sense of humor. Her family was one of the most important things in her life. She was a dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. A friend to all, she never met a stranger and would have given you the shirt off of her back. Known by all as a very sweet lady, she will be sadly missed by everyone.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions in Mrs. Bonshire’s memory please be made to either the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department 131 W. Main St., Bridgeport, WV 26330 or to the Bridgeport United Methodist Church Women, 251 Worthington Dr., Bridgeport, WV 26330.

The family will receive friends at the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, 251 Worthington Dr., Bridgeport where Mrs. Bonshire will lay in repose on Thursday, June 28, 2007 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 – 10:45 AM. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday in the church with Reverend Steven E. Dorsey and Reverend Jim Lang presiding.
