Jackie Ray Jones, Sr., 71, Gypsy, died Thursday morning, April 12, 2007, at his home after losing a long battle to cancer. He was born in Core on July 25, 1935, the son of the late Wilbert L. and Lilly V. Martin Jones.
He had managed the Bob Pawn Shop for 45 years, working in Grafton and Clarksburg. After retiring, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by his son, Jackie Ray Jones Jr. and his wife Vanessa of Fairmont; a daughter, Sharon Yvonne Jones Hershman and husband Baretta of Morgantown; grandson Jeffrey Allen Jones and wife Angel of Summersville; granddaughter Shadona Yvonne Tennant and great-granddaughter Haley Yvonne Hershman of Core; two sisters, Ruth B. Duley and husband Alton, and Shirley A (Judy) Jones, of Morgantown; two brothers, Robert E. Jones and wife Wilma of Morgantown; and Donald H. Jones of Martinsburg; a very good friend, Dottie Corrothers and family of Grafton; and his former wife Shirley Y Jones, Cassville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Delores Jones, Helen Jones and Madeline Jones Papandreas; and a brother, Wilbert (Billy) Jones.
Mr. Jones request for cremation without any further services will be honored. Arrangements are under the care of Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport.
